Welcome to the Adult Language and Cognition Lab

The Adult Language and Cognition (ALC) Lab focuses on investigating cognitive-linguistic processing in adults with and without acquired brain injury. The lab conducts research to understand the relationship between extralinguistic cognitive skills (e.g., attention, executive functioning) and everyday language use (i.e., discourse) and how these skills can impact functional communication in monolingual and bilingual speakers. Our goal is to conduct clinically meaningful research to improve communication and life participation outcomes of persons with aphasia and other acquired neurogenic communication disorders.
